Tesla’s Cybertruck Manufactured in Texas Factory
After numerous delays, it appears that the Cybertruck is finally en route to customers. Tesla recently shared a photo on Saturday morning, showcasing a Cybertruck that was recently manufactured at the company’s Giga Texas assembly line in Austin. The automaker proudly declared it as the “First Cybertruck built at Giga Texas!”
As Electrek points out, the vehicle in question is likely Tesla’s production-purpose model designed to identify the most efficient way to make the new vehicle at scale. The fact that the company shared a photo of the finished Cybertruck suggests it’s on track to meet Elon Musk’s latest timeline set for an oft-delayed pickup.

At the start of the year, Musk predicted volume production of the Cybertruck would begin in 2024, with limited production increases likely to begin “sometime this summer.” Recently, he told investors that Tesla would hold a Cybertruck delivery event in the third quarter of 2023. “[It] takes time to get the production line up and running, and this is a really radical product,” Musk said in April. “It is not made in the same way as other cars.” Until now, the Cybertruck’s stainless steel frame incorporates complex manufacturing techniques not normally used in the production of other cars. Tesla has also faced repeated bottlenecks with the next-generation 4680 battery.
The company’s original (and highly optimistic) release date for the Cybertruck was 2021. At the time, Tesla said the vehicle would start at $39,900 for the single-motor version, with the three-motor model priced at $70,000. The automaker has since said that it hasn’t yet decided on final pricing and that the cost of the Cybertruck could be based on a number of factors, including a lack of a supply chain and the state of the economy.
